Why EHCPhelp Exists

When a school requests an EHC needs assessment, councils agree in around 3 in 4 cases. When a parent asks for exactly the same thing, it is fewer than half (Department for Education, 2025 data: 75.8% against 44.0%). The children are no different. The difference is the language: schools write requests around the legal test and the evidence the SEN team expects, and parents, understandably, write about being at breaking point.

EHCPhelp was created to close that gap. We turn what you tell us about your child into the formal documents the system responds to: a request letter framed around section 36(8) of the Children and Families Act 2014, parental views in the language of the SEND Code of Practice and an evidence plan built from what you already have.

What We Do

You answer a 6-step form about your child in your own words: strengths, difficulties, what school has tried, attendance, incidents. We generate a complete, personalised EHCNA Request Pack: the formal request letter, detailed parental views, an evidence checklist, a letter to the school and a timeline of every statutory deadline.

If the council has already refused, our Refusal Appeal Pack answers each of their reasons against the legal test, walks you through the mediation certificate and the SEND35A tribunal form, and prepares you for what the council will argue.

How It Works

EHCPhelp was built by developers and education policy researchers who studied the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Regulations 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015 - the framework every local authority in England must apply when it reads your request. Our system structures your child's real difficulties around the statutory test and the evidential matters the Code tells councils to weigh.

Everything is grounded in the actual law, with the exact citations in the documents. We never invent facts: if you did not tell us something happened, it does not appear. Your documents are unique to the circumstances you describe.

The decision rests with the local authority and, on appeal, with the tribunal.
